Ambulances for

the Unrecognized Villages

In 2012, AJEEC-NISPED, together with Magen David Adom (MADA), launched a one-of-a-kind program: ambulance service for the unrecognized Arab Bedouin villages of the Negev. This program is the first attempt to provide emergency response services to the 100,000 residents of the unrecognized villages.

To date, the project runs two ambulances with two medics/drivers and provide services to 15,000 people. Both drivers were trained by MADA.One ambulance covers the Beersheva-Dimona region and the other works in Ramat HaNegev. The ambulances patrol among the villages, answer all calls and provide emergency response and transport to clinics and the hospital.

Simultaneously, we are raising awareness about the availability of this service among the residents of the unrecognized villages as well as training volunteers from the community to provide a life-saving local response in an emergency.

Currently, we are working to add a third ambulance that will operate in the Beersheva - Arad region.
